Setting up bridges in the world of data

Client Meiro Time span 9 months and counting Service Branding; Website; UI&UX Design

Meiro is a ecosystem of applications tailored to ease data analyst, marketing and IT specialists. Even though we've worked together on previous projects together, we were humbled when they've invited us to build Meiro together.

It can be quite common for big companies that it's hard to work or even access data they need for their work. It adds unnecessary load to employees and slows the process. This issue kickstarted whole project. The idea was to build a application that can get data from every source imaginable, write a smart algorythms with a speck of artificial intelligence and pack it with exceptional user interface. That last part was for us to solve.

Our first step was to learn everything we can about the world of data science. We've spend a lot of time with the client discussing features, scenarios that might happen and generaly how to make the interface intuitive.

Meiro is japanase for maze. A catchy name is good start. Our client wanted modern identity that can be told apart the competition. His idea was to avoid the cliche blue technology company startup that is everywhere.

We've consulted how can we make the ecosystem of applications work together and also how to help the users tell the applications apart. Also we've talked about the identity, portrayal on social media and so on.

Our final design was a maze with capital M in the centre symbolizing the way out of the maze. The color palette was bright and we've been working with shades of orange and yellow. The orange one was used for Meiro Customer Data Platform and the yellow one for Meiro Integration tool. The main brand uses both colors in simple gradient as a symbol of those two applications.

Building an aplication of this scale was a long process. We've continued with the inviting look gained by the colors of the brand. Every piece was pixel perfect, exact, but with rounded corners that were put together in a playful way. The parts were designed to work together, to let the user know what goes together and what not.

Usualy the users needed to work with a lot of data and they needed to know the relationships between them. At this point we've really put in use the knowledge about data analysis.

We've also worked on interactions. We've embraced the idea of friendly interface and designed interactions that helps the user focus and find the way around.

We started to build the website as the last part of whole process. We've had the product, brand and marketing materials done. The final task was to condense all the information on one place. The primary goal of the website is to introduce what Meiro is about and how it can help them with their business. We wanted to start a dialogue with potentional clients and gain their confiedence in the product.

23YL brought to the table what we lacked completely. That's design thinking and different point of view. I most appreciate the agile approach and prioritising functionality over design for the sake of design. What's most beneficial to us is the synergy of working on several different projects, website and the product with the same team. It just grows the value exponentially.
